New Delhi:India has strongly condemned the airstrikes launched by Pakistan on Afghanistan’s Kunar and Paktika provinces, saying that several civilians were killed in the attacks.

“We strongly condemn the attacks from Pakistan, the airstrikes which were launched on Afghanistan in their Kunar and Paktika provinces,” the spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs said.

Expressing condolences over the loss of civilian lives, India said it hoped those injured in the attacks would recover soon.

India described the strikes as an act of aggression against a sovereign neighbour, warning that such incidents undermine regional peace and security.

“We also reaffirm our strong support, steadfast support for Afghanistan, for their independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, as also for the welfare and well-being of their people,” the statement said.

Responding to a question about Pakistan, the Indian side said Islamabad must demonstrate concrete action and a firm commitment to addressing cross-border terrorism.

“Pakistan needs to demonstrate action and firm commitment, and they must take credible action against cross-border terrorism before the world believes what they wish to do, what they say they are going to do,” the statement said.
